Stephen Briles is a member of the Class of 2015 at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. He is a president of the Family Law Society, a board member of the LGBT Legal Project, a member of the Pro Bono Immigration Project, former Programs Director for the American Constitution Society, a researcher for Professors Jeanine Bell and Steve Sanders, and a mentor for first-year law students. Stephen competed in the Williams Institute LGBT Moot Court Competition at UCLA and in the internal Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition. Stephen works in the Family and Children Mediation Clinic, helping low-income families resolve domestic disputes. Stephen has worked in the legal field as a summer associate with American Family Insurance in their Indianapolis litigation department and at the company's headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin doing corporate law.

In May 2012, Stephen graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science with minors in Religious Studies and Family Studies. While at Indiana, Stephen was a Council Member on the Indiana University History Club, and a member of College Democrats, Indiana University Historical Society, Undergraduate Religious Studies Organization, and the Student Global AIDs Campaign. Stephen served as an advocate for students in the Indiana University Department of Student Rights, and also served on the Indiana University Judicial Boards for Ashton Residence Hall. Stephen volunteered with College Mentor For Kids and participated in the Indiana University Dance Marathon. Stephen was chosen by the Political Science Department to represent Indiana University at the Student Conference on United States Affairs at West Point. Stephen also spent a summer abroad in Amman, Jordan and a semester abroad in London, England.

Stephen is from Marion, Indiana, where he graduated from Lakeview Christian School with academic honors, and was class president, president of the National Honor Society, and a student council member. His extracurricular activities included being co-captain of his varsity soccer team, track and field, Academic Quiz Bowl, a member of the Spanish Honor Society, and the Marion Mayor's Youth Council.
