Owen Hoepfner, Class of 2016, is majoring in Economic Consulting, Public Policy Analysis, and Finance, with a minor in Geography. Owen is a Herman B Wells Scholar and a member of the Hutton Honors College. He is also part of the Kelley School of Business Honors Program. Owen served as the Kelley Living Learning Center Judicial Board Chair his freshman year. He also served as social co-chair in the McNutt Hutton Honors Council Association. Owen pledged the international fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi, serving as pledge class president during the spring semester of his freshman year, and he is now a brother. Owen played trumpet and marched with the competitive La Crosse Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps over the summer. Currently, Owen is the Vice President of Programming for the Trockman Microfinance Initiative, where he coordinates trips to socially conscious non-profits and hosts a campus-wide case competition. He plans to travel to South Africa at the end of the school year as part of the Kelley X272 Study Abroad program. In addition, he is a peer tutor for introductory business computer classes.

Owen is from Mount Prospect, Illinois, where he graduated from Prospect High School as a National Merit Scholar, National AP Scholar and president of the National Honor Society. His extracurricular activities included competitive marching band, symphonic band, congressional debate, ultimate Frisbee club, math team, and varsity tennis.
In his free time, Owen enjoys following the Chicago Bulls, reading his Time magazines as well as biographies by David McCullough, and playing Settlers of Catan. He looks forward to his first year on the court.
